I got one of this bags when I was going to Brazil, and the next trip I got another one so I could have two. I've been carrying a lot of stuff back and forth (my family is staying there) and I am checking in from 5 to 6 bags everytime (ouch!) - I've done this trip twice with these bags, and the check in people on two different airlines didn't complain about the size (which I was sure they would - it's huge) - so, it has worked out great for me. Last trip, the plane broke at JFK, so the luggage went to Miami instead of brasil, then from Miami BACK to NYC, then to Brazil, was picked up by airport personnel, loaded into an open bed truck, and drove to my house down there - not exactly people who would care for your luggage. They are both still intact, and the grommet system for closing it has worked surprisingly well so far. I am getting a third one right now...
