About Britannica Encyclopedia

The Encyclopedia Britannica is a general English-language encyclopedia published by Encyclopedia Britannica, Inc., a privately held company. The articles in the Britannica are written by a staff of 19 full-time editors and over 4,000 expert contributors. It is widely considered to be the most scholarly of encyclopedias. In 1933, the Britannica became the first encyclopedia to adopt a "continuous revision" policy, in which the encyclopedia is continually revised and every article is updated on a regular basis.

1. As a general encyclopedia, the Britannica seeks to describe as wide a range of topics as possible. The bulk of the Britannica is devoted to geography (26%), biography (14%), biology and medicine (11%), literature (7%), physics and astronomy (6%), religion (5%), art (4%), Western philosophy (4%), and law (3%). The rest 20% is the rest of the subjects.
2. It has more that 84,000 articles. It has 1,66,000 magazines and web links, to provide in-depth additional information.
3. World Atlas - It contains an electronic atlas which is dynamic and you can click on any location for a detailed map. You can also click on a city and get the full necessary information data on it. With its help you can take a tour of the world through more than 1,500 maps.
4. It has a Britannica brain-stormer – This is an interactive way to understand relationships between ideas, subjects and people. Eg. It is a fun and fast way to browse topics by using a dynamic index. The child has to click on a term and watch as related topics appear. People, places and things are colour coded and the child can establish relationships between them.

In 2006 BC technology was the first appearance of deliberately shaped tool produced by human beings. In 2005 Apple unveils its newest ipod which can also play videos and this pocket size portable music player has become a phenomenon with more than 42 million units sold.
11. It come with a “Browse” . function. If you search on a topic/ word, it gives you articles and images, multi-media and snapshots on it from book of the year  etc instantly.
12. Explore- This is a special feature which allows the  child to understand all that there is on some specific special themes/ topics. Eg. Classical music section has snippets of pieces by famous musicians like Chopin, Beethoven etc. as an audio file which the child can play and learn about classical music.
